CANDIDATE FOR DISTRICT 2 CITY OF LAGRANGE
Ameia Cotton-Williams is a proud native of LaGrange, Georgia, and the youngest of four daughters born to Roger and Wanda Cotton. With a lifelong dedication to service, leadership, and community empowerment, Ameia is a passionate advocate for positive change.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Miles College and a Master’s in Public Administration from Strayer University. These academic foundations have supported a dynamic career spanning both the public and private sectors. As Vice President and Co-owner of Hamil and Associates, Inc., a probation services company, Ameia played a key role in operations, working closely with probationers, law enforcement, and government agencies to support rehabilitation and reform.
Ameia's commitment to service has earned her several honors, including the Ruth Moore Humanitarian Award in 2013. She was also selected for Georgia’s prestigious Young Game Changers Program and Leadership Troup in 2017 both initiatives that equip rising leaders to drive innovation and solve community challenges.
Deeply rooted in her hometown, Ameia has served on the board of HYPE Troup, volunteered with the LaGrange Police Department’s Community Outreach Program, and co-founded the Troup County Anchor Foundation Inc., a nonprofit focused on strengthening local neighborhoods through charitable services.
Currently, Ameia serves as the Utilities Customer Service Manager for the City of Hogansville, where she ensures efficient service delivery for residents. She also contributes to youth empowerment as an executive consultant for the Greater Achievement Youth Empowerment Academy, which offers free SAT/ACT tutoring to high school students. In addition, she is a member of the Junior Service League of LaGrange and an active supporter of Twin Cedars, helping raise funds for programs that serve at-risk youth and families.
In 2018, Ameia became a proud member of the Troup-Coweta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.—further reflecting her dedication to sisterhood, scholarship, and service.
Above all, Ameia is a devoted wife to Rodney Williams and the proud mother of three children. Her unwavering commitment to her community and passion for service make her a powerful voice and tireless advocate for LaGrange and the surrounding areas.
My vision for district two is that it's time for district two to stop getting left behind. Its time for us to start coming together to make sure that we can have the same opportunities in our community.
